Origin

Origin, composition and appearance

Travertin Turquie is a trade name generally associated with quarries in Türkiye, around Denizli. Country, quarry and grade are still checked against the lot available in Morocco before ordering.

Its beige background shows natural layers and pores. As with every natural stone, pattern density and shade vary from slab to slab.

Travertine

From quarry block to installed piece

This natural stone is not manufactured like a composite surface. It is quarried and then processed for the project.

  1. 1

    Block extraction

Blocks are quarried and sorted for structure, colour and consistency.

  2. 2

    Slab sawing

Blocks are sawn into slabs. Depending on the stone, drying, filling or resin reinforcement may be applied.

  3. 3

    Surface finish

The surface is calibrated and receives a honed, sandblasted or textured finish for the required appearance and slip resistance.

  4. 4

    Cutting and installation

The approved slab is cut to size, edge-finished, transported and installed with joints and treatments suited to the Marrakech project.

Strengths

  • Warm appearance and recognisable natural texture.
  • Honed or textured finishes suit both interior and exterior settings.
  • Filled surfaces can be maintained and refurbished.

Points to consider

  • Natural pores often require filling and impregnation.
  • Sensitive to acids and aggressive limescale removers.
  • Wet areas require monitoring of joints and filled zones.

Our advice before ordering

Always approve the actual slab. Two lots sold under the same name may differ in shade, veining, microfissures and porosity. We also confirm thickness, finish, treatment and intended use before quoting.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Travertin Turquie suitable for a kitchen?

This is not our first choice for a heavily used worktop. We prefer it for the applications listed on this page.

Is Travertin Turquie suitable outdoors?

Yes, with a slip-resistant finish and prior validation of porosity, treatment and exposure.

How should Travertin Turquie be maintained?

Use a neutral cleaner, monitor filled areas and renew impregnation according to water and stain exposure.

The stated properties are selection guidance. The lot data sheet and inspection of the actual slab take precedence.
